Sydney FC to Send Perth Glory Packing!

Sydney FC will take on Perth Glory at Aussie Stadium on Thursday 14 Dec 2006 at 8:00pm.

The current A-League champions have not had the greatest season this year. A season marred by injuries, coaching and management re-suffles as well as pretty poor onfield performances (barring the 4-1 drubbing of Adelaide United back in October).

Much has been written about Terry Butcher's coaching style (some may say, ability), but after a succession of two nil-nil draws (the last one played out in front of a parochial Melbourne crowd at the Telstra Dome which drew over 50,000 spectators), much is expected of this final home game of the year.

Expect at least a comfortable 2-0 win for the home side.

Perth are a far cry from their 'Glory' days of yesteryear and will rather see out their 10th year in existence with at least a draw. The lower table side are facing problems of their own, with sponsorship issues as well as a dwindling home crowd - one that used to be the benchmark in the old NSL.

Perhaps a change in ownership will provide the necessary new blood and investment that our Western cousins desperately need.

In other news, Gianfranco Zola will make guest appearances for Marconi and Apia on the 29th December, 2006. That should see out a great year for Australian football (see sponsorship deal report with Nike) and high hopes for the coming year.
